Your Saturday Morning Ritual: Finding Owl Farm at Nantwich Market

If you’ve ever wandered through Nantwich Market on a Thursday or Saturday morning and noticed a stall where the queue never quite seems to shrink — that’s us. That’s Owl Farm.

We’ve been trading at Nantwich Market for a good while now, and it never gets old. There’s something honest about setting up a stall, laying out the cuts you’ve raised yourself, and talking directly with the people who are going to cook and eat them. No middlemen. No mystery.

What You’ll Find on the Stall

Our stall at Nantwich Market is stocked with meat from the rare and heritage breeds we raise here on the farm in Crewe, Cheshire — just a short drive from the town square.

On any given market day, you can expect to find:

  • Heritage pork from our Large Black, Oxford Sandy & Black, pigs — slow-grown, pasture-raised, and full of the flavour that commercially-reared pork simply can’t match
  • Hand dry-cured bacon — back, middle, streaky, in plain, smoked, maple, and black treacle cures, all done by hand on the farm
  • Our own sausages — made with heritage breed pork and proper seasoning, nothing else
  • Hebridean lamb — a rare, lean, and distinctly flavoured lamb from one of Britain’s oldest native breeds
  • Hubbard heritage chickens — slow-grown, pasture-fed birds with the kind of depth of flavour that’ll change how you think about Sunday roast
  • Pies, sausage rolls, and deli products — all made using our own meat

Stock does vary by season, so if you’re after something specific — a particular cut, a larger joint, or something for a special occasion — it’s always worth a message ahead of time. We’re happy to put things aside.

Why We Come to Nantwich Every Week

Honestly? Because it matters to us.

We’re a small heritage breed farm. We’re not supplying supermarkets or wholesalers. Everything we rear, we sell ourselves — at the farmers market in Nantwich, through our local delivery rounds on Mondays and Wednesdays, and occasionally at the Treacle Market and Rode Hall Country Market too.

Coming to market means we get to have real conversations. We hear what people enjoy cooking, what questions they have about the breeds we keep, and what they want to see more of. That feedback shapes what we do on the farm just as much as the seasons do.

We’re also — and we say this plainly — a beyond organic farm. That means no antibiotics, no growth promoters, and no shortcuts. Our animals live outside year-round on rotational grazing. They grow at their own pace. They eat and behave the way their breeds were meant to. That approach is reflected in the quality of the meat, and it’s why customers keep coming back to find us at the stall.

When and Where to Find Us

  • Nantwich Market — every Thursday and Saturday, in the town centre
  • Treacle Market — monthly (check our Instagram @owlfarm_uk or Facebook owlfarmcheshireuk for dates)
  • Rode Hall Country Market — monthly

We’re easy to spot. Look for the heritage breed labels, the proper cuts, and usually at least one person mid-conversation about the best way to cook a leg of lamb.

Can’t Make It to Market?

If you’re within 8 miles of the farm, we offer local home delivery on Mondays and Wednesdays. Just get in touch through the website at  www.owl-farm.co.uk  to find out what’s available and arrange a delivery slot.

And if you’re visiting the farm shop in Nantwich area for the first time, the market stall is a great place to start. Try the bacon. Try a sausage roll. Have a chat. We think you’ll understand pretty quickly why people keep coming back.

We’ll be there this Thursday and Saturday. Come and say hello.
